Best Hotel for San Francisco Chronicle Wine Tasting
The largest competition of American wines on the planet is once again hitting the Bay Area this February, and if you’re at all somebody with oenophilic tendencies you’re going to want to come stay with us at the Pullman San Francisco Bay for the proceedings!
On Saturday, February 17th, the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (SFCWC) Public Tasting comes to the Festival Pavilion at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. It’s part of a matchup of thousands of domestic wines judged by some of the most elite industry professionals in the country, and it’s one of our area’s premier annual epicurean happenings.
The 2018 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
The Public Tasting on the 17th kicks off at 1:30 PM and wraps up at 5 PM, with the last pour, well, pouring a half-hour before that. The peerless selection of varietals to sample comes backed up by a smorgasbord of topnotch food and a thoroughly fun and festive atmosphere.
Nearly 70 judges from all across the wine industry—sommeliers, winemakers, critics, and more—assessed the relative merits of some 7,000 entrees in January to determine the finest wines in America. Categories include Sparkling Wines, White Wines, Red Wines, Pink Wines, Dessert Wines, Ciders, and Wine Labels.
To whet your appetite, check out former Sacramento Bee restaurant critic, editor, and wine columnist Mike Dunne’s tasting notes describing each and every one of the 173 “Best in Class” wines in this year’s competition right here at the SFCWC website.
