Indulge in some signature fall day-tripping out of Pullman San Francisco Bay by swinging by a few of our region’s pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and u-pick apple orchards. And speaking of pumpkins, you really ought to put the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival on your to-do list: This awesome celebration of the Halloween gourd, presenting its 48th annual edition October 13th and 14th in downtown Half Moon Bay (aka the “World Pumpkin Capital”), features supersized pumpkins, hundreds of arts-and-crafts vendors, live music, and a whole lot more.
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival
Among the great free concert events in the U.S., the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival always puts on a heck of a show in Golden Gate Park. This year’s festival, which takes place October 5th through October 7th, serves up a mouthwatering lineup that includes Mavis Staples, Alison Krauss, Steve Earle (and Justin Townes Earle, too), Emmylou Harris, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Ani DiFranco, and a taping of Live From Here hosted by Chris Thile, to name a few highlights.
